Democrats win Special Elections.
We’re powering their teams.
We’re mad as hell at Trump. But there’s something we can do about it.
Democrats have special elections coming up across the country. And Democrats just won a special election in a district Trump won by 21%. We can win these races with the right candidate and message.
We’re targeting Republican held congressional districts where a Democrat could win. As the Trump administration becomes more chaotic, we anticipate more congressional special elections through the end of the year.
To date, we’ve helped the Democratic nominees in special elections raise thousands. And even in some of these red districts, we actually have a shot.
We’re going to do everything we can to help these candidates win.
Deep Dive: Iowa SD-35 (2025 Special Election)
We've done a deep dive on the county and precinct level data on this Iowa special election. As a refresher here, Trump won this district by 21%. And Republicans have consistently won this district by large margins, including in the 2022 midterm elections.
The following graph details the differences in county level performance from the last election in District 35 in 2022, versus the special election in 2025.
Take a close look at Scott County, which in 2022 supported the Republican candidate by over 33%. In the 2025 special, the Republican won it by less than 1%. That's a 32 point swing in the most difficult Republican county in the district.
All numbers here are the Democratic delta performance (i.e. in 2022 the Democrat lost Clinton county by about 20%).
Scott County is the southernmost county in the district, encompassing all the precincts south of the Wapsipinicon River.
The bigger towns here include Park View (pop. 2,709), Long Grove (pop. 838), and Donahue (pop. 335). It's far from the big city. And it's far from the suburbs. The closest city is Davenport, IA, about a 20-30 minute drive from the district.
This is NOT turf that Democrats historically do well in. And it's turf that in other states, so many Democrats have all but given up on.
But what this race in Iowa proved is that with a strong campaign, and a strong plan, Democrats can win, even in the toughest places in the country to campaign. This Democrat ran a strong, focused campaign on lowering the cost of living for hardworking families.
This special election is a model for how we can win races across the country. And we’ll be there to support Democratic candidates running in congressional special elections across the country that could flip Republican held seats.
