Problem: Major Democratic organizations generally do not target districts with extremist republicans. The Democratic congressional playbook works in majority suburban and urban districts. This is important, but is not generally where extremist republicans run and win.

Without the support of major Democratic organizations, it is nearly impossible for Democratic candidates to beat extremist republicans. No matter how much they work or fundraise on their own, they do not have the institutional support you need to win a modern campaign.

Solution: Enter Defeat Extremists. Our goal is to do the long-term work that gets ignored in districts like these so that we can actually put these extremist Republicans in play. That means registering voters. That means turning non-voters into frequent voters through regular turnout programs. And that means long-term voter persuasion.

Unlike others, our goal is only defeating the worst of the worst republicans. So our donors’ dollars go towards that mission—not a host of competing Democratic priorities.
